Terms of use
These terms apply to anyone who uses Vehigo: visitors looking for a car, and those who publish their listings on it, garages and, from 19 January 2027, private sellers. This English version is a translation provided for convenience: if it differs from the French version, the French version prevails.
Version in force since 31 October 2026
1. Purpose
Vehigo is an online marketplace for used cars in Belgium, published by Julien Jacobs (see the legal notice). Garages and dealerships publish their listings on it and, from 19 January 2027, private sellers publish those of their own car; visitors view them and contact the seller directly.
Using the site means accepting these terms. Garages accept them when they register, together with the terms of sale, which govern their plans; private sellers, when they register.

3. The service
For visitors, Vehigo is free and requires no account: searching for a car, viewing listings and showcases, contacting a seller.
For garages, Vehigo offers a showcase, the publication of listings, buyer messaging and viewing statistics. The Découverte plan is free; the paid plans allow more listings online. During the launch offer, until 18 January 2027 inclusive, each garage can have up to 300 listings online free of charge. The plans are presented on the Pricing page and governed by the terms of sale.
For private sellers, from 19 January 2027, Vehigo makes it possible to publish the listing of their own car free of charge, with buyer messaging and viewing statistics, under the conditions of the “Private seller listings” section.
Vehigo does not sell vehicles and does not take part in sales: the contract is concluded directly between the seller and the buyer.
4. Garage accounts
- An account is reserved for motor trade professionals registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises. A company number opens only one account.
- The person who registers the garage is of legal age and has the authority to bind the company. They accept these terms and the terms of sale by ticking the box provided; the date and the version accepted are recorded.
- On registration, the name and address of the company can be retrieved from its number, from the European Commission’s VIES service.
- Each new garage is checked by a person. Until it is approved, its showcase and its listings remain invisible to the public.
- To publish, the garage must have confirmed the email address of its account.
- The garage provides accurate information and keeps it up to date. It keeps its password secret and is responsible for the use of its account.
5. Listings
The garage only publishes vehicles that it actually has for sale, that it owns or for which it holds a sales mandate. Each listing describes the vehicle accurately: make, model, year, mileage, condition and known defects. The price shown is the total price asked, VAT included.
The listing of a used vehicle gives the link to its Car-Pass certificate, or the reason why it has none (Act of 11 June 2004). The photos show the vehicle offered for sale.
The following are prohibited: misleading or fictitious listings, stolen vehicles or vehicles whose odometer has been tampered with, and any content that is illegal, shocking, defamatory or that infringes the rights of others, such as photos taken from elsewhere without permission.
An online listing that loses its last photo or its Car-Pass is automatically withdrawn from the site, and the garage is notified.
The news items that a garage publishes on its showcase follow the same rules: nothing misleading, illegal, shocking, defamatory or infringing the rights of others.
6. Private seller listings
From 19 January 2027, a private individual can publish the listing of their own car on Vehigo. Until then, only garages publish listings. Private seller listings are free: the terms of sale do not apply to them.
- A private seller account is reserved for an adult who sells, in a private capacity, their own car or that of a member of their household. On registration, they declare that they are acting outside any professional activity and accept these terms by ticking the box provided; the date and the version accepted are recorded. A person opens only one private seller account.
- A motor trade professional (garage, dealer, trader) registers as a garage, with their company number, even to sell a single car.
- Each new private seller is checked by a person, who may call them on the number they provided. Until they are approved, their listings remain invisible to the public; after that, their listings go online without further review. To publish, they must have confirmed the email address of their account.
- A private seller puts at most 3 different cars online over twelve months, and so never has more than 3 listings online at once. A car counts from the moment it first goes online, even if its listing is later deleted. Beyond that, it is no longer a sale by a private individual: they must register as a garage.
- A private seller’s listing stays online for 60 days. The private seller is notified by email 7 days before the end, and can put it back online free of charge for 60 more days, without it counting as a new car. Otherwise, it leaves the site and stays in their dashboard until they put it back online or delete it.
- The rules of the “Listings” section also apply: a car that is actually for sale, described accurately, photos of that car and the link to its Car-Pass certificate, for example the one from the QR code printed on the certificate they obtain at the technical inspection. The certificate handed to the buyer at the time of sale must be less than two months old. The price shown is the total price asked.
- On their listings, Vehigo states that the seller is a private individual and only publishes their first name and their municipality, never their surname, their street or their email address. Their phone number and their WhatsApp number only appear if they choose to show them. A private seller has no showcase, plan, stock import, news or VIN lookup.
- Buyers write to the private seller with the contact form. The private seller replies from their private seller dashboard: the replies reach the buyers by email, without disclosing the seller’s email address. The private seller only uses the contact details received for this sale.
- The rights that European consumer law gives a buyer dealing with a professional, such as the legal guarantee of conformity or the right of withdrawal, do not apply to a sale between private individuals. Private seller listings point this out (article VI.45/1 of the Code of Economic Law). The sale remains governed by general law, for example regarding hidden defects.
- In their private seller dashboard, the private seller has access to their listings, to the messages received with the buyers’ contact details, and to the statistics of their listings: views, calls, clicks to WhatsApp, messages, shares. Vehigo only uses this data to run the service.
- The “Moderation and reports” and “Account suspension and termination” sections apply to private sellers as they do to garages: reasoned decisions that can be challenged, closure of the account at any time from their private seller dashboard (“My account” section) or by email, deletion of an abandoned account.
7. Contact between buyers and sellers
A visitor can contact a garage by phone, via WhatsApp, by email or with the contact form. The message and the contact details given (name, email and, if you wish, phone number) are passed on to the garage, which replies by email. The buyer receives a personal link to follow the conversation without creating an account: this link must not be shared. The browser from which they write, or open this link, remembers the conversation, which anyone who uses this browser can then read: on a shared device, the buyer removes it on the “My conversations” page. A private seller is contacted with the same form, and by phone or via WhatsApp if they show them (see “Private seller listings”).
The seller only uses the contact details received to answer the request, and not for direct marketing without the buyer’s consent.
The contact form is not to be used for advertising, canvassing or mass mailings.
8. Ranking of listings
The display order cannot be bought: a garage’s plan changes neither the position nor the visibility of its listings. Private seller listings are ranked together with those of garages, according to the same rules, and visitors can choose to show only one or the other.
- In search results, listings are ranked from the most recently published to the oldest. Visitors can sort them by price, by mileage, by year or, from a postcode, from the nearest to the farthest, and filter them.
- The home page shows the latest listings published and, among the garages that registered most recently, those with the most listings online.
- The directory presents garages in alphabetical order, with a filter by province.
- On a showcase, the garage’s listings are ranked from the most recent to the oldest, or by price.
9. Advertising of insurers
The page “Insure your car”, open and linked from the listings and the footer as soon as an insurer appears on it, presents insurers that pay Vehigo to appear there: it is advertising, marked as such. Each pays Vehigo a flat fee for its place, without any commission on the contracts concluded, and appears there in the same way; the order is drawn at random at each visit.
Vehigo is not an insurance intermediary: it gives no advice, does not compare offers, takes no request for a quote and passes no data of a visitor or a car on to the insurers. Each insurer is responsible for its presentation, its covers and its contact details; the insurance contract is concluded with it alone, on its website or by phone.
10. Moderation and reports
Vehigo checks the seller rather than each listing: each garage, and each private seller, is checked by a person before becoming visible. Automatic rules also prevent a listing from going online, without examining its content: email address not confirmed, listing without a photo, used vehicle without a Car-Pass or a reason for exemption, number of listings allowed by the plan or number of cars allowed to a private seller reached, seller suspended. When a garage’s plan allows fewer listings than it has online, an automatic rule takes the listings above that number offline, without deleting them, keeping first those the garage has chosen, as provided for in the terms of sale. A private seller’s listing leaves the site by itself after 60 days, unless they put it back online. No automated tool analyses texts or photos.
Anyone can report illegal content with the “Report this listing” link on each listing, or by writing to infos@vehigo.be: the procedure is set out in the legal notice. Each report is examined by a person, diligently and objectively.
Depending on the seriousness of the facts, Vehigo may ask the garage to correct a listing, remove a listing or a news item, suspend the garage (its showcase and its listings become invisible) or, as a last resort, terminate its account. A removed listing is no longer visible anywhere on the site; the garage can correct it, but only Vehigo can put it back online. A removed news item is deleted along with its photo; the garage can publish another one.
11. Account suspension and termination
Any restriction decided by Vehigo (refusal of registration, removal of a listing or a news item, suspension) is communicated to the garage by email, with the reasons for it, at the latest when it takes effect. The garage can challenge it by replying to that email or by writing to infos@vehigo.be: its complaint is examined by a person. A refused garage can also request a new review from its pro dashboard.
Vehigo only terminates a garage’s account with at least 30 days’ notice, sent by email with the reasons. During this notice period, the garage keeps access to its pro dashboard and can view its listings and its messages there. There is no notice period where the law so requires or in the event of serious or repeated breaches of these terms, such as fraud or misleading listings.
The garage can close its account at any time, either itself from its pro dashboard (“Subscription” section) or by writing to infos@vehigo.be. Its account, its showcase, its listings, its messages and its statistics are then deleted, except what the law requires to be kept (see the privacy policy).
An account that nobody has signed in to for three years is considered abandoned. Vehigo then notifies the garage by email, and deletes it in the same way 30 days later, if nobody has signed in in the meantime. Signing in is enough to keep the account. A garage with an ongoing paid plan is not affected.
12. Garage data
In its pro dashboard, the garage has access to the information it has provided (showcase, listings, photos), to the messages received with the buyers’ contact details, and to the statistics of its listings and its showcase: views, calls, clicks to WhatsApp, email, website and directions, messages, shares.
Vehigo only uses this data to run the service. It does not sell it, does not pass it on to other garages and does not use it for advertising. The contact details on the showcase are public, since that is their purpose.
Vehigo does not itself sell vehicles and imposes nothing on the prices a garage charges elsewhere. The listings are only distributed on vehigo.be, where search engines can find them.
13. Liability
Each seller, garage or private seller, is solely responsible for their listings, their information and the sales they conclude. Vehigo hosts this content without checking it item by item: it is not a party to the sales and guarantees neither the vehicles nor the accuracy of the listings. It promptly removes any content once it learns that the content is illegal.
Vehigo does what is necessary for the site to be available and secure, but cannot guarantee that it works without interruption: maintenance or a failure, including at a service provider, may interrupt it.
Nothing in these terms limits Vehigo’s liability in the event of intentional misconduct or fraud, nor the rights that the law guarantees to consumers.
14. Intellectual property and licence
The seller remains the owner of their content and warrants that they have the right to publish it, in particular the photos. For as long as it is published, they grant Vehigo a free, non-exclusive licence to host it, adapt it to the site’s formats (size and compression of the photos) and display it, including in the previews shown by search engines and social networks. After publication ends, Vehigo also keeps the car’s characteristics and its successive prices in its price book, without the seller’s name or the VIN, for its price statistics (see the privacy policy).
The site itself (name, logo, design, code) belongs to Vehigo. The systematic extraction of the listings or of the sellers’ contact details, for example by an automated program, is prohibited.
15. Personal data and cookies
What Vehigo does with personal data is described in the privacy policy. The site only uses cookies that are necessary for it to work: see the cookie policy.
16. Changes to the terms
Vehigo may amend these terms to keep up with changes in the service or in the law. Registered garages and private sellers are notified by email at least 30 days before a new version comes into force, unless a legal obligation requires a shorter period. Anyone who refuses the new version can close their account free of charge before it comes into force.
The date of the version in force appears at the top of this page.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law. In the event of a dispute, the parties first seek an amicable solution. Failing that, the courts of the judicial district of Liège have jurisdiction, unless the law allows a consumer to bring the matter before another court.
A consumer can also contact the Consumer Mediation Service free of charge (see the legal notice).
